Are Android Apps Surpassing iPhone Apps?

Lately, it seems like everyone has been making the switch to the Android OS for their phone choice!  Whether it's your disdain for Steve Jobs or whether your fed up with AT & T, we welcome you with open arms to the "light" side.

With all this migration, could this, potentially, be a GREAT opportunity to build apps?  It seems like the proportion of people coming to the Android and the people out there producing apps is very off.  Therefore, YOU can fulfill this niche by producing apps and bringing them to market.  New users need new apps, and with relatively little competition, anyone can jump in to the game at any time.  My suggestion: get in there before everybody else does!

"Google's Android operating system edged out Apple's iPhone operating system for the No. 2 spot in the U.S. consumer smartphone market in the first quarter, research firm NPD Group reported Monday.

A Quick Guide To Google's App Inventor

Cool news: Google is creating a way for "the average joe" to get started with Android App development.

I know there are a lot of people out there with great ideas for Android Apps but don't have the programming skill or technique to bring it to life. Well, here is an alternative to those who are daunted by hours of coding and the word "Java". Introducing: App Inventor. A way to build apps using a visual interface that is friendly for any nontechnical person. Best of all, it's free.

Here is an introductory video to the new App Inventor, for those who want to get a quick glance at what it is like:

I decided to pick up this program and am in the process of creating several video tutorials for it. What would you all like to see? What would you all like me to make? Let me know so I can narrow my focus when making these videos to serve your needs best.

Here is a tutorial that explains how to create a twitter client.  Pretty neat stuff.

That being said, this method is not nearly as powerful as coding by hand. You can do easy tasks and make relatively simple Apps, but don't expect to make anything groundbreaking. Furthermore, it is still in it's early stage of development, so give it a little time to truly develop.  If you'd like a proper introduction to Android Development, you wouldn't want to start off with App Inventor, but coding by hand instead.

At the end of the day though, this is a powerful new tool that will definitely help those who dislike programming.

The Best "Getting Started" Guide

Hey, Eric here.

This is the first video I watched to get started on making Android Apps 10 months ago.  Seems like quite a while ago.  I'm still developing, learning, and creating, but it becomes hard with a job and all.

Anyway, here it is:

Part 1:

Part 2:

Let me know if you have any questions, but remember, I am no expert.  Check out the youtube video and check the comments, that'll prob. be best if you need questions answered; but I may be able to help.

Stay tuned, we've got more.
